Fredericksburg
Traveling east (3/2) on I-10 is quit a visual odyssey. El Paso is very dry and brown, not much as far as brush, grass or cactus. The further east the greener and more lush the country becomes. I-10 is cut through the desert and hill sides, the cross section of the hills are fascinating.
We chose to bypass San Antonio by turning onto US 290. The temperature immediately dropped 10 degrees, no truck traffic and almost empty rode. The road is in excellent condition lots of up and downies with some nice gentle turns. The country is covered with several types of oak trees cactus and more.
We stopped for the night in Fredericksburg, famous for its peaches and the home of Lady Bird Johnson’s park (includes an 18 hole golf course with a one week advanced notice for tee time).
Yep-this was more than a “500 mile day”
Today was a 10!
Tuscan to El Paso (3/01)
Ron’s bike is running sooo good. The mechanic replaced the ignition module and converted from dual fire to single fire and told Ron a secret for boosting the fuel performance. While doing so, the cruise control became dysfunctional.
Ron ran amuck…We rode I-10 at 80-90 mph. The weather was mild, 60-80 degrees with high clouds. It seemed you could see forever. The Russell Day Long seats allowed us to fuel and ride, no need to stretch or walk about. I know Ron was feeling great as we stopped at KFC for lunch (my favorite) and the Harley shops in Las Cruces and El Paso.
